ABC woke privilage

They can read the news but not the room, while Australia's struggle ABC staff cry poor.

The problem with woke privilege

On Wednesday 25 March we watched as ABC reporters told the Australian public how tough they were doing it. They interrupted programs to air personal grievances with the management of the ABC. What hubris and privilege they display. They know, because of the woke ABC culture, that even though they committed an egregious breach of the public trust and probably their key conditions of employment, NOTHING will be done about it. Every single one of them that made an on air statement should be terminated, never be employed by the ABC again, they spat in the face of every Australian.

This is a growing blight in this country, people and groups thinking that their individual grievances are more important than anyone else’s. I am sure there are countless stories of individual Australian’s being harshly treated by employers and government, that ABC journalists have ignored, and probably laughed about at the pub. But when it comes down to it, they see themselves as more important than the rest of Australia.

There have been calls for a long time to defund the ABC, and more and more those calls hold water. Growing up in country Australia, the ABC was sometimes the only choice you had for news, or to here the test cricket score. The ABC held a special place of importance in Australia, they reported on issues that affected the nation, they connected Australian’s to each other, and they provided a source of information that was essential not only to farmers in outback Australia, but also many small businesses all around the country. ABC staff cry poor me to again

But what does the ABC add to modern Australia? They individualise their grievances, they broadcast biased news, they advocate for fringe minority groups with very political agendas, and they advocate hate for sections of the Australian community. The ABC’s role in Australia is no longer one of being a national independent broadcaster, it is nothing more than a platform for woke ideology. They act in the interests of niche groups within the ABC, as if they were not accountable to the Australian people. The ABC acts like they are just any other news outlet, but they are our national broadcaster they aren’t just any other news outlet.

Do we need the ABC anymore?

Unfortunately, I think the answer is yes, there is still a place in Australia for a national broadcaster, but not the one we see today. The ABC needs to be broken up and downsized. They need to focus on what their role in the Australian community is, stop picking sides, and stop creating news, stick to reporting the news. Leave the opinion pieces to the commercial news outlets, and stick to informing Australian’s with unbiased, unsensationalised news.

The cultural shows and documentaries need to be separated from the news reporting. All Australians should have access to unbiased news from the public broadcaster online, through free to air, and on radio, without having to sign up and provide personal details to access it.

Accessing the news and information from our national broadcaster should not be a privilege or an exercise in collecting names and email addresses; it should be easily available to every Australian to access.

Too many Australian government agencies have been commercialised. They are not there to make a profit, they are there to serve the Australian public where there are gaps in services provided by commercial organisations. Australia Post is a classic example, they should not exist if there is no national need for them. They should not be there to compete with commercial businesses, that just distorts the market. Howmany couriers have gone under of late, while Australia Posts courier service is underwritten by the government! They should be there to fill the gap that commercial enterprises cannot or won’t. Just like the ABC should not be there to compete with commercial television and media; it is there to fill a gap that those commercial organisations cannot or will not fill.

So what now!

Downsize the ABC. Get rid of most of the staff. Make everyone reapply for positions based on their qualifications to perform the role the ABC needs them to do. Make the ABC accountable to Australian people, rewrite its charter. The charter needs to be clear in its intent and purpose, its is not there to compete with commercial media, but to perform an essential role for the Australian community. It should be enshrined in its charter that it has to be unbiased, and it should not be the ABC management that gets to determine bias. It should be made clear that any employee that uses the ABC to promote their own agenda will be instantly dismissed, as that is a grievous breach of employment conditions. Simply put, it should serve the purpose it was created for, if that purpose is no longer there it should be shut down.
